How is the chin augmented with implants?
The procedure is performed with either local or general anaesthesia. An incision is made inside the lower lip or under the chin. The implant of desired shape is then placed inside. Usually, the chin will be taped after the surgery to minimize swelling and discomfort.
What happens post-surgery?
Swelling and bruising can occur, but this will be helped by the tape applied to your chin after surgery. Pain and discomfort is common for days following the procedure, but it can be eased by oral medication. Facial movements and expressions may be difficult for a while, and our doctor may ask you to wear a supporting brace while you sleep to allow your tissues and implant to heal in the right position. If you feel any severe pain or other abnormal symptoms, call your doctor immediately.
