  Fat transfer

As the years go by, the underlying collagen and elastin in our skin break down and wrinkles emerge. We also tend to lose some subcutaneous fat on our faces. This brings about a haggard, hollow, or even skeletal look.

  Let us help.

Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting, is a procedure that extracts your own fat tissue and re-implant it into another area to restore plumpness and enhance contour. Fat transfer can improve the creased and sunken areas of the face, and add fullness to the lips and cheeks. This healthy robustness in the face will serve to shave years off your appearance.

The procedure is performed with or without Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. PRP Therapy promotes faster post-surgical healing by injecting enriched platelets from the patients own blood.

Why use fat cells from my own body?

Your own fat is a good filler as it is soft, feels natural and does not cause immune problems. There will be no rejection or risk of infection as the fat is from your own body.

How is my own fat tissue extracted and used?

A liposuction technique is used to harvest fat from body parts like the abdomen, thighs or buttocks. The fat will then be prepared according to your doctor’s preferred method and then injected into the desired area. The donor site (where the fat is taken from) and treatment site (where it is being re-implanted) will have been treated with local anaesthetic.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?

It is a procedure involving the extraction of your own blood to produce a concentrated broth of growth factors and white cells, and then using it to stimulate your healing process. This treatment has received popular attention recently due to its use in treating sports injuries in professional athletes.

What is the recovery period like?

Most people are discharged about 2 hours after the procedure is finished. Your face may feel tight and tender, and your donor site may be sore as well. Bruising and swelling may occur. It is best not to move or massage the treated area for a few days. You should be able to return to normal activities within the week. If you feel any severe pain or other abnormal symptoms, call your doctor immediately.
