  Scars & keloids

A scar occurs as a result of wound repair anywhere on your body. The composition of scars vary, from flat to sunken or lumpy. A keloid is a type of scar which tends to enlarge progressively. Unlike scars, keloids do not subside over time.

  Other types of scars include:

  Contracture scars
These occur when the skin has been burnt, causing a tightening of the skin that can affect mobility. It may also go deeper to affect muscles and nerves.

Hypertrophic scars
These are raised and red, similar to keloids, but remain within the boundaries of the original lesion. They are often inflamed, itchy and even painful.

  Acne scars
If you have suffered from acne, you probably have scars to prove it. They range from deep pits to scars that are angular or wavelike.

How does LineXel Fractional Co2 work?

It creates areas of treated tissue surrounded by untreated, healthy tissue. LineXel fractional laser treatment creates narrow, deep columns that extend through the epidermis into the dermis through an array of intense laser energy microbeams. The body’s natural healing process creates new, healthy tissue to replace the columns of affected tissue – improving the skin condition being treated.

How many sessions are usually needed to treat scars?

Depending on the severity of the scar, the average number of sessions is between 6 to 8.

How do injections remove scars or keloids?

Cortisone injections are administered to flatten scars or keloids by reducing the amount of collagen deposited onto them.
